Company History
1st in Video-Music World was started in 1975 as Music World, a brick and mortar stereo equipment store in Quincy, Illinois. The founder and CEO, Dennis Boudreau, started Music World for a business class project at Quincy College (now Quincy University) that focused on how to start a small business. After 5 years of selling only audio equipment, Boudreau saw a need in the marketplace and began to sell video equipment. In 1980 the company name evolved from Music World into 1st in Video-Music - World, Inc. Making the transition into video was the first of many transformations for 1st in Video-Music World.
In 1994, 1st in Video-Music World transformed once again by taking the name Your Electronic Warehouse and opening a new mega store in Quincy, Illinois. Two years later, in 1997, Your Electronic Warehouse transformed their business by taking its business online as 4electronicwarehouse.com. Over the last ten years, Your Electronic Warehouse online has developed into one of Internet Retailer’s HOT 100 companies. They support many of the major consumer electronic brands such as: Bose, Monster Cable, Niles Audio, Pioneer, Yamaha, and Shure.
1st in Video Music World had it’s fourth major transformation in early 2005 when Boudreau’s passion for golf drove him to begin an online golf superstore. DiscountGolfWorld.com made its debut in February of 2005 and since has succeeded in becoming Internet Authorized for companies such as Nike Golf, Callaway, Ben Hogan, Taylor Made and Adidas.
In 2009, 1st in Video - Music World launched 4Luggage.com along with a retail store to sell luggage and travel gear. This was a strategic move to offer related travel goods to the company’s current loyal customer base.
Dennis Boudreau started Quincy’s Discount Travel in 1986. In 1997, 1st in Video Music World helped develop Quincy’s Discount Travel’s website, 4DiscountTravel.com. 4DiscountTravel.com sells vacation packages to destinations such as Las Vegas, Mexico and the Caribbean. In 2007, 1st in Video - Music World launched a whole line of travel products and accessories on 4DiscountTravel.com that customers can purchase in preparation for their next vacation and also for future traveling.
In 1997, Internet Partners was founded as the company’s IT Department. In the first few years, Internet Partners focused on Web Development and had a client list of approximately 30 businesses. Internet Partners has shifted it’s focus to consulting manufacturers on distribution patterns and monitoring the Internet for unauthorized dealers.
1st in Video Music World will continue to make changes and upgrades to our websites to better our customers online shopping experience and to become an even larger player in the online retail and travel industries.
