5 Major Reasons Sellers on eBay Fail (And Why We Are Successful)
I came across an article today on DoItYourself.com that outlined the top 5 reasons eBay sellers fail. I would like to use those five reasons to point out why we are so successful on eBay.
Reason #1: Lack of Passion
I see why this is #1. You have to have passion at all that you do. It takes a lot of hard work to list thousands of listings on eBay. You have to have a passion for what you are doing to ensure that you do it right. There are several good online retailers, but not all of them have the passion to sell on eBay.
Reason #2: Bad Feedback
This is an area that you have to work hard at to ensure positive feedback. To receive positive feedback you must communicate well with the buyers on eBay. You must promptly answer their questions, process their order in a timely fashion and communicate the status of their order. Both yourelectronicwarehouse and discountgolfworld have an extremely high positive feedback rating. This shows our commitment to customer service.
Unfortunately, there will always be customers that you can never completely satisfy who will leave negative feedback. When you do receive negative feedback, you must figure out why they left negative feedback, try and work out the issues with the customer and see how you can keep that issue from happening again.
Reason #3: Not Accepting Credit Cards
This is the easiest one on the list. We accept Mastercard, Visa, Discover, American Express and PayPal. You must accept more than just credit cards. PayPal is used to process 67% of all eBay transactions and we see this number continually increasing. A seller must learn how to properly integrate PayPal with their eBay listings.
Reason #4: Poor Advertising
This is an area we do really well, but there is always room for improvement. Sellers must properly name and categorize their products to be successful on eBay. It is also important to instill trust with buyers. We do this through professionally looking listings that highlight the fact that we are an Internet Authorized Dealer. We have found that customers are willing to pay 10%-20% more when buying a product from an Internet Authorized Dealer.
Reason #5: Underestimating Costs And Losing Money
It costs a lot more to sell on eBay than most realize. It is hard for retailers who are only driven by price to make a profit.
